Uplifts – Things We Can Do On Purpose to Make Ourselves Happy

“Happiness is not by chance, but by choice. The only reason you are happy is because you choose to be happy.”

I don’t think I’m incorrect in assuming that happiness is something we all seek.  However many of us have yet to realize that happiness is not something we have to wait for.  A cheerful state-of-mind is a condition we can actually put ourselves in.

We don’t have to wait passively by to be uplifted – we can choose to make it happen! Check out the video below for 10 Simple Uplifts, that can help us find our happy place.

24 Things All Self-Aware People Know and Do

“Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.”
C.G. Jung

I am a firm believer that the practice of self-discovery, which leads to greater self-awareness, is one of THE most important pursuits we could ever venture to undertake.

What is self-awareness?

Well for me, self-awareness is about being able to pay attention to what’s going on inside you. Being aware of the thoughts and feelings that cause us to make the decisions that directly affect our daily lives.

The only things in life that we can completely control are our thoughts, feelings and behaviors. And if we can manage these, we are well on our way toward living a successful live.

Self-awareness is the root of conscious living and is the key component to living intentionally.

So, it would stand to reason that if self-awareness helps us to live more intentionally, we will experience the following benefits:

  • Happiness
  • Less inner conflict
  • Better decision-making
  • Self-control
  • Resistance to social pressure
  • Tolerance and understanding of others
  • Vitality and pleasure

Now you know why being more self-aware is important.  Armed with this knowledge, I’ve listed 12 of the 24 Things All Extremely Self-Aware People Know and Do:

  1. They Take Responsibility
  2. They’re Kind Instead of Nice
  3. They Know Their Beliefs Aren’t Real
  4. They Don’t Take Their Results Personally
  5. They Know They Need Certainty and Uncertainty
  6. They Know They’re More Than Their Thoughts
  7. They Know They’re More Than Their Feelings
